Introduction to Spinning

Instructor: Vicki Anders

Class Fee $45 A $5.00 supply fee will be collected at the beginning of the class.

Learn to spin yarn for knitting, weaving, crochet, etc., using cotton, sheep’s wool, alpaca and other fibers.  Start from the beginning with combing, carding, S twist, Z twist, drafting, plying, using a niddy-noddy.  Don’t know what these words mean?  Come take the class and learn.  Bring your own working spinning wheel, or Intersections can loan one to you for use in class while supplies last (call ahead for availability).

Spinning a Yarn: Drop Spindle

Class Fee $35.00   A $2.00 supply fee will be collected at the beginning of the class.

A drop spindle is a portable and inexpensive tool for spinning fibers into yarn. In this class, we will be using an easily made, simple drop spindle to turn fluffy, clean wool into a yarn to be used for weaving, knitting or crocheting. We will provide a drop spindle for use in class and wool for spinning. (A drop spindle of you own and additional wool is available for purchase for $8.66 or $12.99, depending on size of spindle desired.) Limit: 6 students/class.
This class is also appropriate for children Ages 8-12.
